new obsession: convertible multi-wrap dresses

My latest obsession (other than shoes) is convertible dresses. These dresses have many names, including infinity dresses, multi-way dresses, multi-wrap dresses, etc. Whatever name they may have, these dresses are the coolest, most versatile thing since the little black dress (LBD).

Pardon my crappy iphone photos but here is my newest and most prized piece of clothing. It’s for my sister-in-law’s wedding taking place next spring.

I’m wearing the Henkaa Sakura Convertible Dress in Kelly Green. This dress is so freakin’ comfortable, I feel like I’m wearing my sleepshirt but I look pretty darn good! The fabric is slightly shiny, slightly stretchy, and machine washable. The best thing about this dress is you can wear it a million different ways– the sky’s the limit!

I absolutely love my Henkaa dress. If you’ve been thinking about buying a convertible dress, I highly recommend Henkaa. They are a Canadian company buy you can purchase these dresses online through their website. Another selling point is that these dresses are manufactured in Canada!

I look super rough in these pictures but I’ll get some better pictures up next spring when my sister-in-law’s wedding takes place. I’m really excited to be a bridesmaid!

If you want a convertible dress but don’t the budgetary requirements, Target also has a small selection of these types of dresses in various colors. I can’t speak to their quality, however.

Let me know what you think of convertible dresses? Have you ever tried them?

      1. Hey Jules! thanks so much – I am really excited about this wedding. It’s the first time I’ll be a bridesmaid! I love convertible dresses. If you’re a dress person, I highly recommend one in a staple color like black or purple. You can dress is office appropriate with a blazer, tights, and pumps. Or you can even dress it up for a night on the town with some glitter heels and a metallic clutch. The possibilities are endless and I can’t even tell you how comfy the fabric is!

  1. I have the Henkaa dress is plum purple and my 3 bridesmaids wore them in my April wedding in the chocolate brown. They loved the dresses and got to be creative with how they wrapped it.
I would recommend this dress to any woman and especially bridesmaids to be. This is a very affordable dress and can be worn in over a hundred different ways to suit any body type!!!

    1. Congrats and thanks for sharing your experience. I LOVE my dress yet and I haven’t even worn it outside of my house yet. I am SERIOUSLY obsessed with Henkaa dresses and I’m really excited to see what the new spring colors look like. Definitely agree that these dresses work with any body type! they are simply fantastic!

  2. Hi

I love this dress, it’s gorgeous.. I’m from the UK and my bridesmaids range from size 10-12 uk size, and their height range is 5ft4 to 5ft 8. How tall are you? The length looks perfect on you! Stunning!

    1. Hi Kerry! Thanks for reading my blog post! I love convertible dresses – I have MANY of them. I am about 5’4″ and a US size 10-12. The Von Vonni Ravon Transformer dress (the short one – featured in my other post about convertible dresses) hits me above the knee. It is one size fits most but I do believe Von Vonni makes a plus size dress as well. Other brands such as Henkaa (pictured here) and Tart hit me right below the knee. I love the Von Vonni dresses, there are so many different colors and patterns and they can be found on ideeli and on Amazon as well as I believe the Von Vonni site does ship overseas although I’m not sure if Amazon or Ideeli do. Henkaa dresses can be purchased from but I’m not sure if they ship internationally. If you have any more questions let me know!! xoxo

  3. is it just one size? I am skinny so I am not sure how it would fit on me. Too bad I am not able to try it on in person!

    1. depends on what brand you’re talking about but yes, most of them are one size (and maybe a plus size too that’s larger). I don’t see why they wouldn’t still work on slimmer gals, as the fabric usually stretches to fit us larger gals.

  4. You look lovely! Thank you for posting this. I’ve been on the fence about these dresses because I couldn’t find any pictures and reviews outside the website. I’m sold!

  5. Hi.
Ive been thinking about getting one of these dresses for my “around the world backpacking trip” as it sounds perfect and lightweight. I’m a little concerned that it will take a long time to dry once washed. Im going to be staying in youth hostels so mostly handwashing and line drying. What is your experience with this dress.
    Thank you

    1. Hi there – that sounds like a wonderful adventure. I’m not sure that the Henkaa dresses will dry quickly, to be honest. The fabric is really nice and luxurious and I would even consider it a bit thick for stretchy fabric. When I wash my dresses, I do delicate cycle wash (in their little bag) and then line dry. And it takes a few days for all the fabric to dry. So, I’m not sure they’d be great for that. I do think they’d be fantastic for travel though, because they don’t really wrinkle and you can pack them into a tiny bag. Hope that helps!
