review: zoya charisma nail polish

I recently had a chance to try Zoya nail polish for only the price of shipping. This was the very first to try Zoya, and I must say, I’m impressed with their range of colors. It’s almost spring and so it’s time to break out the ultra bright colors! Whoohoo!

Being a lady obsessed with pinks, reds, and purples (and the occasional glitter or grey polish), I picked Zoya Charisma to try, a rich and bright purple, pink, magenta, slightly neon, matte color. Unfortunately I don’t think I accurately captured how beautiful this color is in real life.

Things to note about Charisma:

  • I wore the color for about a week. It started chipping after 2 days of wear.
  • I wore the nail polish on clean nails. 2 layers of charisma followed by 1 layer of top coat (my current favorite is Ulta topcoat).
  • The polish actually dries matte, but becomes glossy after you apply topcoat.
  • The polish dried fairly quickly and isn’t too thick when applied, which is really great because it helps you avoid bubbles in the polish.
  • The color itself is amazing. Depending on angle and intensity of light, it looks more purple, sometimes pink, sometimes magenta, and sometimes neon.
  • It’s one of my favorite nail polish colors but I am disappointed that I can only wear it chip-free for a few days.

Here are some pictures:

review: justfabulous makeeda

So my latest JustFab purchased happened when I forgot to ‘skip the month’ in December and wound up with a credit. Shoe clubs such as JustFab are great, you just have to be sure and ‘skip’ if you don’t want to make a monthly purchase.

Oh well, that’s no one’s fault but my own and the good news is I wound up with a great pair of edgy high heels, Makeeda. Plus these beauties are a Christian Louboutin Clou Noeud look-alike at a much better price- only $39.95.¬†I would normally not even give shoes with studs a second glance (normally not my thing) but I saw a blog post about them that my friend Chee at the Shoe Doctor, PhD wrote. I really liked the way Makeeda looked on her. Plus the fact that I LOVE red heels, peep toes, and bows helped too ;-P

here’s my in depth review:

Style: I really love the peep toe, the red faux leather and the studs. But the whole style is elevated a couple of levels (for me) because of the cool modern bow. I love the bow. And the fact that it’s a slingback pump helps too. 5/5.

Fit: I have wide feet and I usually wear a size 9. I ordered the 9 and it fits pretty well. You can tell that I have wide feet in the pictures but oh well, that’s expected with wide feet. There are is some very minor rubbing of my second to smallest toe but it’s not bad enough to blister. I wore them all day at work and they were pretty ¬†comfortable! I do sit at a desk all day but the little walking around I did, I didn’t want to take them off for relief. 4/5.

Color: Love the red:-) 5/5.

Quality: I would say for the price [39.95], the quality is not bad. Makeeda is made of faux leather. The insoles are peeling a little but but nothing that a little glue can’t fix. Not sure about the quality right now because I’ve only worn her a few times but I think if you take care of these heels, they could last. 3.5/5.

Price: not bad at under $40. 5/5.

Overall: I got so many complements wearing these today! They are cute and fairly comfortable ‚Äď 4.5/5.

jason wu for target launches soon!

To be honest with you, I didn’t really know who Jason Wu was until I heard about his collaboration with Target. But I am loving some of his clothing and accessories-and you can’t argue with unique clothes and accessories at bargain prices! I believe the line launches in some Target stores on February 5th.

These are some of my favorites (for obvious reasons, LOL. I LOVE cats and nautical inspired designs):

I am starting to really like Shoedazzle, which is not good for a shoe addict like me. Their shoes are a good price and very cute; however, the quality isn’t always good but their customer service is fantastic.

During their 50% off sale, I snagged Akasha, which is now sold out :-(. BUT they have so many other cute options and I believe their sale is still going on for a few more days…

Shoedazzle Akasha Pump
Shoedazzle Akasha Pump

Style: Once again, I LOVE mary janes. NO surprise there. Akasha caught my eye with her unusual lower strap and her shiny black patent faux leather coupled with the gold glitter accents. 5/5

Fit: Because of reviews and the fact that I have wide feet, I sized up to 9.5 and I’m glad I did. Akasha is a narrow shoe, so I don’t think I would have been able to fit into a 9. The 9.5 has some room in the heel area but I’m OK with that. The Strap keeps my feet firmly planted in the pumps, which I REALLY LIKE. Regarding the comfort factor: These aren’t the most comfortable heels mainly because of the 4.25″ heel but I can wear them all day at my office job with no complaints. 3.5/5

Color: As you probably already know I love patent leather in all colors. I am usually not a huge fan of black shoes in general but I really like the gold and black combination on Akasha. 5/5.

Quality: I would say for the price [39.95 usually but Shoedazzle was offering 50% off certain items], the quality is more than good. The glitter doesn’t seem to be falling off and getting on everything, which is nice. The sole has some areas that were discolored, but you can’t really see them. I don’t know how long these will last but I’ve already worn these heels 4-5 times and they seem to be holding up pretty well. 4/5.

Price: less than $20, I find the price to be fantastic! 5/5.

Overall: Akasha is a great party shoe and Shoedazzle has impressed me with their great customer service – 4.5/5.
