Butter By Nadia Convertible Dress - signature jersey

more convertible dress mania: nothing’s better than butter

I’ve really been enjoying by new Butter By Nadia signature jersey wrap dress that I picked up during a sale for an AWESOME price. Hubby and I were going out to a nice vendor dinner at a slightly fancy shmancy restaurant so I wanted to be comfortable but look cute. I even straightened and volumized my hair (with hot rollers).

The signature jersey dress fabric is a knit rayon jersey, which is as soft as a ever and super duper comfy–it almost feels like an older worn-in t-shirt but much cuter! The color is called carnation, but it’s really a pinkish purple color.  I love this convertible/infinity dress and the fact that you can wear it a hundred different ways including skirt, halter dress, one shoulder dress, strapless, etc. If you’ve read my blog before, you know how obsessed I am with convertible dresses!

I even wore an off white jacket on top of the Butter dress for a more polished look. And I was able to rock my consignment mary jane shoes, which I love! I like how this look can be good for a night out or for work.

manic monday shoe find!

Today’s shoe find is courtesy of Shoedazzle shoe club. Peach is a beautiful and summery espadrille wedge sandal with a t-strap, canvas upper, and peep toe. She’s available in a coral color called salmon as well as navy.

I’d love to get Peach to wear with maxi dresses for the summer. I have several maxi dresses that are a tad long and I’ve been looking for a feminine yet comfortable wedge to wear with them.

At $39.95, Peach is a steal and a perfect summer sandal! If you’re not already a member, please click on the image below to join. Shoedazzle no longer has membership fees so no need to fret!

what makes you happy?

I wanted to do a post that’s a little different than usual. Some tough days at work got me thinking…what makes you happy? I’m going to write about a few of the things that make ME happy but the point here is to get all my readers to chime in. So here goes.

Things that make me happy (in no particular order):

  • Going for a walk downtown. I love the way urban architecture looks, and I love nothing more than exploring any city’s downtown area on foot.
  • Eating good food! This is definitely me. I am obsessed with food (mostly protein b/c of the low carb diet thing). I love to read about different recipes, cook, shop for ingredients, and I love sharing the whole experience with friends and family.
  • Pets. I love animals, mostly cats. I always feel good when I get home from a tough day at work and my sweet cat is greeting me at the door. I’m sitting on my couch right now with Laffy the cat sleeping next to me. Pets always brighten my day.
  • Friends. Need I say more? There is nothing better than a good friend listening to you when you’ve had a rough day. I love my friends!
  • Family. Feeling loved and needed is a great thing. And family is good at making you feel like you’re loved no matter what. We may disagree and fight on occasion but I love my family.
  • Hubby/Significant Other. My hubby keeps me sane. He is the yin to my yang and I thank him for that. He also makes me feel loved no matter what and is a strong shoulder for me to lean on when I need it.
  • Relaxing. I love the feeling of doing NOTHING. Sitting on the couch and watching TV or sitting on the back deck and reading a book. No plans & no responsibilities, even for a short time, is divine.
  • Travel. I love exploring new places and new foods. Just the anticipation of a trip is enough to send me over the moon. I love to travel!
  • Shopping. OK, so this is ‘happy trigger’ isn’t so good. But I can’t help it, I love to shop. It doesn’t have to involve a lot of time or money. I love thrift shopping and window shopping.

Alright, enough from me. What are some things that make YOU happy? Please do share!

pastels aren’t just for Easter eggs

I hope everyone had a great Easter! My hubby and I spent the weekend with my Mom in Richmond, Va and had a great time! So happy to have seen my mom.

Earlier this week, I wore a pastel outfit that I really liked and I hadn’t even noticed that I looked like a basket of Easter eggs.

Pretty Pastels

Pretty Pastels – jacket: consignment store, pink top: Belk, mint skinny pants: Forever21; Shoes: Shoedazzle Turquoise Amour

I really love the Shoedazzle Amour pump… SO SEXY… but not very comfortable. Even though I went up half a size, these narrow pumps still somewhat squish my toes.

So, even though it was worn post-Easter, I really liked this outfit. Pastels aren’t just for Easter eggs 🙂

What do you all think of pastel outfits or pieces? Yay or Nay?
