Day 6 of dressmeber midsummer madness has been record-breakingly hot (106 degrees as the high). I spent most of the day just hanging around the house in this cute Tart Collections navy halter dress. I found it a few weeks ago at TJ Maxx and my mom was sweet enough to get it for me (it was on clearance, too)! It’s casual but super comfortable and makes a perfect summer dress.
Later on in the day, my mom and I headed to the mall to cool off and I ran into this GORGEOUS necklace at J Crew. This bubble necklace is super awesome but SUPER EXPENSIVE. I cannot imagine ever paying $150 for a piece of costume jewelry.
But being the bargain shopper that I am, I had already been watching this very same necklace on ebay (I really had no idea it was $150…AH!) and I have found a multitude of them for under $20; some are even under $15 with free shipping. They ship from China but I think it would be work the wait. The Bubble necklace at J Crew is made in China too, I checked the tag.
Here is one of my favorite Bubble necklace look-a-likes. You can find them in a rainbow of colors but the apple green is awesome!
STEAL under $15
Mom and I then headed to Ulta to get me a new bottle of nail polish (don’t worry, I’ll show you later). While there, I remarked at how amazingly well my week old Ulta nail polish has lasted and not chipped hardly at all! I’m very impressed with Ulta polishes and their price is GREAT!
My manicure from last week, still looking great (and instagram-ed):
I hope all of you are staying cool and having a great weekend so far!
Today’s Day 5 of the Dressmeber Midsummer Madness (wear a different dress every day) and they have started… the hottest days of the year. Sweltering 105 degree heat with no rain in sight is not my favorite, especially since my air conditioning at home can barely keep the house below 86 degrees. yay.
The good news is that I work indoors (so thankful!) and I had a pretty dress to keep my mind off the weather.
For day 5 I chose a vintage-inspired and ultra-feminine Donna Morgan white sweetheart neckline eyelet dress that has a super unique purple/pink pattern on the bottom. I saw this dress on eBay and just had to have it – and it’s a good thing I got such a good deal on it. I paired the dress with a cool yellow necklace I got also on eBay for a steal.
With this Donna Morgan dress, I wore my new-ish Report Ray floral platforms, which are AWESOME, tts, and super comfortable. They kind of go with everything since the leather is a neutral beige color. I love the floral fabric on the heel, it’s very retro and girly.
I talked my wonderful mom into taking pictures of me outside in the heat and she was making me laugh the whole time! We are both serious goofballs.
The weather’s really starting to heat up so for today’s Midsummer Madness dress I picked a little Lily wrap (pink/black/red/white print) number that I got at the thrift store for $4:) This printed dress is slightly shorter than I usually wear, but I think I’m getting more comfortable with showing my legs.
I’m also wearing my red and pink Bandolino Apparently flower peep toe slingbacks [I got them at Piperlime], which are comfortable and perfect for work.
Today I spent the day with my mom as she was ferried to her various doctors appointments. I knew I needed a comfortable dress so I opted for this Donna Morgan stretchy dress that I got at a thrift store for $4. Unfortunately it’s very short so I have to wear it with leggings or I show way too much leg. I love the blue colors and the print on this dress so i didn’t mind wearing it like a tunic.
And my cat Lafayette was dying for attention so here he is:-)
