thrift style thursday – happy halloween!

thrift-style-thursday-halloween-costume-flapperfancy-flapper IMG_1956 IMG_1957 IMG_1958 IMG_1959 IMG_1960 IMG_1961fancy-flapper2
I didn’t have a clue what to wear until I realized that my photographer friend Rachel’s Gatsby photoshoot was this weekend and that I could use Halloween to test out hair, makeup, and outfits. Also, we found out that 2 of our models couldn’t make it, so I have to fill in as a model, which will be fun but scary!

So, here I am, all dressed up as a flapper, fancy 1920s lady for my work Halloween contest. I didn’t win like last year (our group costume won 2nd place) but that’s ok because I had a great time. By the way, styling long hair like this (finger waves) is a LOT harder than it looks. The make up wasn’t too bad, I even penciled in my eyebrows to make them appear longer and thinner.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! xoxo

warm weather again!?

The weather here in NC is back to being its temperamental self so we go from chilly to warm and sunny in the mid 70s in the same week. So I took advantage of this and wore a few of my summery dresses that were neglected earlier this year.

I also wore a jacket with my dress so that when the weather warmed up in the afternoon, I could shed a layer easily! And here are my JustFab booties again, they’ve been getting so much wear lately!

leggings + boots

This is not a very exciting post, nor is it a very exciting outfit.

BUT, I finally got to wear my new Zara leggings and I got excited. I thought for a long time that curvy gals couldn’t wear leggings but I figured out that I could definitely pull them off with boots + a longer blouse/tunic + jacket or sweater.

Here goes…

thrift style thursdays – grey!

thrift style thursday - wearing grey

thrift style thursday - wearing grey thrift style thursday - wearing grey thrift style thursday - wearing greyGrey (or Gray – I never know which spelling to use) is one of my favorite neutrals, so it is kind of a surprise to me that I don’t have more grey in my closet!

I really think you can wear grey with ANY color – here I decided to go with black/white/grey in the skirt and burgundy/oxblood jacket. I find that it works for warmer months accented with neons and pastels too.

What do you think of grey? Is it a part of your color palate?

florals in the fall

Like many of you, I hate the idea of not wearing bright colors or summery florals during colder months.

Who says you can’t? Just add tights, leggings, a jacket, a scarf, or just boots for a fall twist on your favorite warm weather frocks. North Carolina has a very mild fall / winter so I like to wear some of my clothes throughout the year.
