happy thanksgiving and Hanukkah to my blog family (those who celebrate). thank you all for being my good friends – from the bottom of my heart.
today is Thrift Style Thursday too. Unfortunately, some wires got crossed and not all of the #TST crew is on the same page, theme-wise. Oh well, it doesn’t really matter, LOL.
Since I thought this Thursday we were doing a polka dot theme, I decided to share my new dotty dress 😉 It’s more of a summery dress- being white and pink and beige and all – but I decided to “winterfy” it with leggings, boots, and a black cardi (not pictured).
Hope you’re all having a WONDERFUL thanksgiving with friends, family, pets, etc 🙂 Oh and if you don’t celebrate thanksgiving, hope you’re having a great Thursday!

on this day 4 years ago, I married Wesley. We got married at the Hillsborough, NC courthouse and our ‘wedding’ unconventionality didn’t stop there – I wore a bright pink dress and Wesley’s “best man” was a woman!
We try and celebrate our special day but because of the timing, our anniversary usually falls on or around thanksgiving day. We got lucky this year that Thanksgiving is a bit later than usual, so on Friday we decided to go out 2 days early. We had a fantastic dinner date at the Angus Barn in Raleigh. It’s THE restaurant in the area if you’re celebrating.
here’s what I wore 😉 I really liked my outfit and wanted to share.
we took a quick selfie before leaving home:
Angus barn is a huge restaurant! My favorite time to go is close to Christmas, they go all out decorating and I love it!
When you leave, they give you the recipe for their famous Angus Barn chocolate chess pie. Words cannot describe how delicious this pie is.
and lastly, here’s a photo of our actual ‘wedding day’ at the magstrate’s office.
THANK YOU for sharing this special day with me. Hope you all had a good weekend.

So, here’s the deal. I love coats/jackets/trenchcoats/whatever. The problem is a. I live in NC and it doesn’t get THAT cold and 2. I am allergic to most wool.
My favorite type of coat is a classic structure peacoat of some sort, maybe something with a vintage flaire. Problem is most of them are WOOL – which is a no-no. So, when it gets really cold, I stick to “ski jackets” – ie. fleece jackets from Mountain Hardware, Northface, and Arcteryx. While these types of coats are very good for cold weather, they are NOT exactly “stylish”…
So, save for a few lighter jackets, all I can do in winter is look longingly at all of you wearing your wool peacoats and cashmere sweaters and sigh….
But here’s a jacket (I wouldn’t call it a coat because it’s mostly cotton and not really warm) that I love to wear when it gets a little chilly outside:
I also wanted to share an awesome dress I found at the thrift store over the summer:
Well, that’s it folks. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Thrift Style Thursday Crew: (I hope I didn’t miss anyone!!!)

This is not a terribly exciting outfit but I needed something quick and easy because I had to get up very early to drop my car off for some paint work. So here you go, not too exciting but it sure was easy to throw together.
I love cute prints (especially animal prints). The first time I wore this top, it was with a skirt. Now, as you see, I dressed it down with a cargo jacket, cotton scarf, and skinny jeans. It was more of a spring-y outfit because we’ve been having unseasonably warm days here in NC.
I still don’t have my car but I’ve been doing just fine – I’ve been bumming rides / paying for rides from coworkers 🙂
What do you think? happy hump day, by the way!
