OK, onto another topic. Have any of you ever tried using coconut oil as a deep conditioner for hair?

This past weekend my hair was feeling very dry, so I took 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil (from Costco) and warmed it up in my hands. Then I massaged it into the ends of my hair (and the middle). Then I put my hair up for about an hour before using a hair dryer on the ends (to open the cuticle…I think). The I sat for about another 15 mins then got in the shower to rinse. I didn’t rise very well though, because the next day my hair was pretty oily. This morning I got in the shower and really lathered up my hair with shampoo and rinsed 2-3 times.

My hair today was shiny, soft, and full of volume. So I think I’ll be deep conditioning with coconut oil weekly. It seems like a great way to keep my dry, curly hair healthy.

  1. Oooh, Nout, this polka dot blouse is beautiful on you!! I just love the peter pan color and it goes perfectly with the black pencil skirt! Also, I’ve used coconut oil before, and I usually have to shampoo twice as well, but it does make my hair so soft and pretty – I love it! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, Kristi! I love the shirt so much, as I love peter pan collars and polka dots. The weird thing about a lot of Merona (Target) clothes is the fit. This shirt is a XXL, so the body is a little loose, yet the arms are quite tight. I am not a fan of their sizing. Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

  2. So you know I nearly squealed when I saw this outfit…polka dots AND a peter pan collar?!?!?!?!?!?! LOVE.

And YAH I adore coconut oil for my hair. I was doing deep conditioning masks once a week last winter, and I’m sure I’ll have to begin doing that same again soon. Yay for coconut oil!!!!

    1. Aw thanks Justine!!!! Great minds…right?! I love the coconut oil but this past weekend I tried a deep conditioning treatment that a coworker gave me years ago and I forgot about it. Both made my hair feel really soft but I love how coconut is a natural product with no chemicals or weird ingredients that I can’t pronounce.

  3. Love this! Super cute! 🙂 Also I use coconut oil for my hair regularly. I moisturize with it a few times a week. I do love that it melts so easily, with the colder weather my jar has been solid, normally I went in with a few fingers and scooped some out! 🙂
