Monthly Archives: November 2014

november 2014 budget

Hi friends! I can’t believe that tomorrow is December! It seems this month has gone by quickly and thriftily. I guess I’ve been rebitten by the thrift bug this month because I’ve just not been able to stop thrifting! I even went thrifting with my mother-in-law for Black Friday.

Here’s what I got this month:

PANTS!

6. Lands End purple and white polka dot dress, $4.59 from Goodwill
7. J. Crew white and navy polka dot dress, $4 from DRM Store. Ok so the story about this dress is that I couldn’t leave the store without it but it’s a size too small. I’m planning on getting back on track low carb-wise and losing a few pounds and hopefully it will fit. If not, then I can see if my tailor can let it out. If not then I’ll consign it, but it’s a great dress!

YIKES! Ok, so I spent almost $85 over my budget! But, I got a lot of GREAT staples, including the Sanita clogs, which I LOVE and wear almost every day! I’ve also got a bunch of stuff to consign and donate because I don’t want to have too much stuff, I want to have just the right amount of stuff, so I’m trying to get rid of stuff if I buy new stuff!

Ok friends, it’s your turn…how did you do this month? Did you do any thrifting or shopping for Black Friday at all?

workwear wednesday, well not really

Hi friends, I really wanted to show you what I wore to work yesterday because it was really cute, but I didn’t get a chance to snap pictures because hubby and I had reservations for our anniversary dinner and I had to rush to change and get ready after work.

So, here’s us at Angus Barn for our 5th wedding anniversary. It’s become tradition to celebrate our special day at that restaurant and I’m ever so thankful that I got to spend a lovely evening with hubby eating steaks and sipping wine. The whole place is decorated like a Christmas village.

Unlike me who technically doesn’t have a work outfit, Justine does! Don’t forget to check out Justine’s #WorkwearWednesday post! Check out The Thrifty Girl’s Guide!

workwear wednesday: jeans and a nice top

Hey there friends – hope you’re having a great week so far and thanks for checking out another workwear wednesday post! Today, I was wearing one of my favorite go-to outfits for work which is jeans and a nice top. It’s so easy to just throw on your favorite jeans (I like these Levi’s curve jeans because they’re comfy and they make my butt look nice, haha) and a nice blouse or top for a casual yet put-together office ensemble. Plus who doesn’t like mini polka dots?

Would you or do you wear jeans to work? How do you style them to be office appropriate?

workwear wednesday: more black and white

Y’all, I can’t get enough black and white.

There, I said it.  I know most of us go through phases of colors – one year I’m really into green. The next year I’m really into purple. Well, this year if you look at my closet – black, white, blue is what you’re going to see a lot of. I wonder how it’s going to look next year…

newly thrifted: polka dot dress & stuart weitzman heels

Hi friends, I hope you’re having a good weekend so far. I did some thrifting today and found nothing 😦 but last week I made out like a bandit and I want to share a few of my favorite finds: a sweet Lands End polka dot dress, a stretchy Worth belt, and OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE I FOUND THESE – almost brand new Stuart Weitzman kitten sandals. I’ve seriously lusted over this brand for a while and the shoes were either WAY too expensive or not my size. So of course, these SW sandals are my new favorites – the heel is about 1.75″ so they’re super comfortable and yet still stylish.

See what you think…
