dress for less: lookalike booties

I have been watching these awesome Francoise Shoemint buckled booties but of course I just don’t have it in my budget to get another pair of shoes. While looking I also found a more affordable version.

check it out…

Forever21 Buckled Ankle Boots
Forever21 Buckled Ankle Boots – $40 – faux leather, also available in black
ShoeMint Francoise Boots
ShoeMint Francoise Boots – $80 – real leather, also available in black

See the similarity? The Forever21 version is half the price of the Shoemint version but it’s also worth noting that 1. the F21 version is faux leather while the SM version is real leather, 2. you can take 20% off your first ShoeMint purchase with coupon code 20LUVUS, 3. Shoemint has sold out of quite a few sizes, 4. Forever21 doesn’t have a lot of size variety either.

Hope you like this “dress for less” option:)

j. crew inspired bubble necklace for A LOT less!

I finally caved about bought the amazing j. crew bubble necklace lookalike that I had blogged about before. I first laid eyes on the bubble necklace at a j.crew store last spring but was extremely dismayed at the $150 price tag. I just couldn’t afford or justify spending that much on plastic and metal costume jewelry. Enter ebay. I found many bubble necklace lookalikes, and found out that the lime green one was my favorite color.

J Crew Bubble Necklace – $150

See, other than color, there’s not much of a difference between the two necklaces!

And what’s best is you can get this awesome j.crew inspired necklace for 10% of the price of its j.crew counterpart. The price is $15 with free shipping (ships from the US, too)! Can you believe that?!

One thing to note about this necklace is that it’s pretty sizable and slightly heavy, but I kind of like knowing that this inexpensive costume jewelry has some heft to it.

What do you think of this bubble necklace? Would you wear one? How would you style it? I can’t wait to wear it again with a navy blue dress 🙂

Midsummer Madness (dressember) day 6 + other stuff

Day 6 of dressmeber midsummer madness has been record-breakingly hot (106 degrees as the high). I spent most of the day just hanging around the house in this cute Tart Collections navy halter dress. I found it a few weeks ago at TJ Maxx and my mom was sweet enough to get it for me (it was on clearance, too)! It’s casual but super comfortable and makes a perfect summer dress.

Later on in the day, my mom and I headed to the mall to cool off and I ran into this GORGEOUS necklace at J Crew. This bubble necklace is super awesome but SUPER EXPENSIVE. I cannot imagine ever paying $150 for a piece of costume jewelry.

But being the bargain shopper that I am, I had already been watching this very same necklace on ebay (I really had no idea it was $150…AH!) and I have found a multitude of them for under $20; some are even under $15 with free shipping. They ship from China but I think it would be work the wait. The Bubble necklace at J Crew is made in China too, I checked the tag.

Here is one of my favorite Bubble necklace look-a-likes. You can find them in a rainbow of colors but the apple green is awesome!

Mom and I then headed to Ulta to get me a new bottle of nail polish (don’t worry, I’ll show you later). While there, I remarked at how amazingly well my week old Ulta nail polish has lasted and not chipped hardly at all! I’m very impressed with Ulta polishes and their price is GREAT!

My manicure from last week, still looking great (and instagram-ed):

I hope all of you are staying cool and having a great weekend so far!

steve madden gaayle lookalike

I’ve had my eyes on the Steve Madden Gaayle pump (in blue multi) for a long time. It’s a beautiful and colorful peep toe pump that’s bright and bold. But even though this cute shoe is currently on sale at stevemadden.com right now for $80, that’s still a hefty hunk of cash to part with.

Enter the Bamboo Nanette-05 Colorblock Peep Toe Pump from UrbanOg.com. This is a very close lookalike to the Gaayle, and at $30.40, it’s a much more affordable alternative. However, you have to keep in mind that the Steve Madden Gaayle is made of genuine suede while the Bamboo lookalike is a faux suede.

What do you think of these sole sisters? I personally love the color block look, even in shoes.

hoop dreams: a tale of two prices

Fortuna Earrings

Modern Bohemia Earrings

I spotted a lookalike for a pair of gorgeous earring at Shabby Apple and I had to post it.

The Fortuna Earrings are a gorgeous brass/gold colored hoop earrings that have pretty embellishments and are $16.

I also spotted a darn close lookalike at Forever21 called Modern Bohemia Earrings for a fraction of the price at $3.80.

The Forever21 version of these hoops aren’t quite as detailed in the embellishments, but they are still extremely pretty and have a somewhat exotic “tribal” vibe.

They are also available in gold tone or silver tone. For that price, you can buy both colors and still come up ahead.

What do you think of these cute hoop earrings?
