I am a huge fan of Mel by Melissa as well as Melissa shoes (their higher-end brand). They’re really cute scented plastic shoes made in Brazil and reminiscent of those adorable jelly sandals we wore in the 80s. I already have a pair of flats + pumps but am hankering for Melissa sandals for this wet, rainy summer.
Here are some of my favorite Melissa and Mel shoes for you to enjoy 🙂
I finally broke down and bought a nice black blazer. I have been looking for one at thriftstores but never found anything. It was way more than I wanted to spend but i just love it!
I styled it casually yet still classy enough for work.
Outfit details: Jacket: Chaus one button blazer in black, Nordstrom $99 (also available on their website) Scarf: pink pashmina, gifted Top: nautical tee, thrifed $1.39 Jeans: ralph lauren skinny jeans, thrifted $4.59 Shoes: lands end ballet flats, thrifted $5
+Melinda Maria star moon necklace, gifted
What do you think? How else would you style a black blazer?
I have had REALLY great luck finding bags/purses at thriftshops this weekend and last. This weekend my friend Betsy invited me to go thrifting around Greensboro, NC and I had a blast! You’re not going to believe what I found (and how much I paid)!
here is my haul:
I cannot believe I scored this awesome (and authentic, I may say) Coach tote for only $4.50! I really hit the jackpot! I added the polka dot ribbon bow for extra fun. It was in such amazing shape, all I did was use black shoe polish to polish the corners. The leather is so soft and supple. AND I had been looking for a black leather purse! It was kismet!
This Ashley Brooke (sold at DSW I believe) crossbody has a lot of awesome compartments. I think this bag will be great for traveling.
And last but not least is the AWESOME vintage Dooney & Bourke crossbody satchel and wallet set. It’s in great condition and that’s probably the reason I was willing to spend a little extra on it. I wouldn’t usually shell out this kind of money ($35) but I figured since it was in great vintage condition WITH the wallet/organizer and I had been wanting one for a few months, that it was worth it. What do you think of my haul? Did you find any cool items this week while thrifting?
I think I’d like to start doing the Manic Monday shoe blog posts again. Mondays suck but if there’s any way to make it a better day, it’s with SHOES.
Anyone that knows me know I am obsessed with patent leather (or faux leather) shoes. A good, comfortable pair of patent pumps or heels in a neutral color such as beige or black (or even red) is a must-have wardrobe essential that’s perfect for work or play. This entire post will be dedicated to patent heels.

Not a patent shoe but I just loved this fun and flirty glitter Mary Jane!
I am loving these Lauren Conrad platform High Heels. They’re beige/nude and peep toe and sling backs AND patent leather (faux), which I love! A little edgy with a couple of studs but with an undeniable femininity…plus for under $40! Not bad!
