For this week’s Workwear Wednesday, Justine and I are sharing our 80s inspired looks. I wore this outfit to work on Monday and got quite a few compliments, which was quite nice. I finally wore my vintage Doncaster blazer, something that’s been hanging in my closet for a few years getting little wear. Sometimes with vintage clothes, I struggle to make a proper outfit, especially for work. But this blazer, with it’s sensible shoulder pads (they’re still there) and classic lines makes a good fit among more modern pieces.
Don’t forget to head over to Justine’s blog to see her 80s-inspired work outfit!
Also, some new pictures of my derpy cats Lafayette and Ulysses. Because why not?
I hope you liked our 80s-inspired workwear wednesday post:)
For once, this month’s budget was slightly blown but I only bought 3 items. This is a new thing for me, as I usually thrift so I end up with a lot of items for little money.
But honestly, I’ve found myself buying clothes or accessories that I wear once or twice and and then donating or consigning them. For October – December’s budgets, I’m focusing on fewer items with better quality.
So, here’s what I got:
Hotcakes Designs Necklace (black cat)
Hotcakes Designs Ring (girl holding black cat)
Gap jeans ($3 from a thrift store)
Total = $138. I only went over my budget by $38 but I got a necklace and ring that are gorgeous and hand made and that I’ve wanted for a LONG time. Also, cats.
Your turn to spill the beans….How did you do this month?
First, I’d like to share my excitement at winning the April Thrift Your Heart OUTfit contest over at Thrift Your Heart Out. I’m so happy to be honored for this and I wouldn’t have been able to win without the gracious help of my friend Rachel at Rachel C. Ward Photography!
Now on the good stuff… wanted to share some instagram happenings with you (for those of you who don’t follow me on instagram – @kittehluvs):
Latest thrift haul + my kitty Ulysses:
An OOTD from last week. The sun was just WAY too bright for good pix:
Another thrift haul (including an awesome vintage Dooney & Bourke shoulder bag):
This crazy cat lady named her blog after her love for cat kisses. Here are the Sandpaper Kisses Blog mascots, Lafayette and Ulysses:
March 27th was Sandpaper Kisses Blog’s 1st birthday and because I’m such a slacker, I missed it. My bad.
I’m back from vacation and promise to blog more. Please let me know if there’s a specific topic you want me to cover. Thanks:)
1st thing on the agenda: a super cute picture of my tuxedo cat Lafayette, posing next to a dead-ringer cat figurine that my lovely mother-in-law found. Because I’m a proud cat-mom, of course I have to show him off. Cute huh?
2nd thing on the agenda: I am obsessed with stars and I have found a new necklace to obsess about (this time it’s not a Melinda Maria star moon necklace, of which I have both the larger one and the smaller one).
Made of sterling silver dipped in gold (vermeil is the correct term, right?) with cubic zirconium stones, this stunning handmade necklace is shipped from Istanbul Turkey. I found it on etsy… and I’ve been watching it for a while. It’s only $49!!!
I can’t really express how much I love this necklace. What do you think?
To be honest with you, I didn’t really know who Jason Wu was until I heard about his collaboration with Target. But I am loving some of his clothing and accessories-and you can’t argue with unique clothes and accessories at bargain prices! I believe the line launches in some Target stores on February 5th.
These are some of my favorites (for obvious reasons, LOL. I LOVE cats and nautical inspired designs):

What do you think of this latest Target collaboration? Will you be checking out this collection in stores?
