can’t get enough…denim vests

Here I am once again wearing a denim vest. I think the reason why I’m so obsessed with vests after so many years of swearing them off as “too 90s” is that they’re practical! I have chubby arms and often like the layering effects of jackets or blazers but dislike how my arms feel like sausages busting out of casings.

Enter the vest (denim or really any material). Great for layering, offers some warmth, some casual stylin’, matches many different styles, and easy to obtain or produce.

What do you think of this trend? How would you wear (or not wear) a denim vest?

bye bye jacket, hello vest!

I really wouldn’t call this a refashion. This is more of a jacket makeover! This project helped me do 2 things: 1. I really wanted denim vest and 2. I had a double breasted jean jacket that I wasn’t really wearing and didn’t really like all that much. The sleeves were too long and too tight.

So, I simply cut the sleeves off the jacket. I had some technical difficulties because I keep forgetting that sewing like 3 layers of thick denim is next to impossible unless you have industrial machinery. Alas, it didn’t turn out as perfect as I expected but who cares? You can’t really tell 🙂

I wore my brand new vest to work yesterday with a maxi dress. I think I like it better worn open:

pretty stripes + pyrex

I am trying to wear as many summery dresses as I can before the weather takes a turn for fall. Being that I live in NC though, that time might not come until October or it could happen earlier.

Here I am wearing one of my favorite thrift store finds, a Talbots nautical-inspired striped (chevron) dress that the first lady herself wore back in 2011.

I am also standing in front of the majority of my vintage Pyrex collection. Yes, I have a problem.

Oh and it’s hump day already? Whoa.

I LOVE STRIPES! and my first purchase from eshakti.

I bought this skirt on clearance but misread the size chart and ordered a L/12 which is TIGHT around the waist. I had to wear my tightest control shorts ever. Oh well. The skirt is super cute, was a good price, and arrived quickly (cause it was ready to ship and not customized). The quality seems good too but I’ve only worn the skirt once.

And also yay pepper plants + deck that badly needs staining, lol.

Hope you’re all having a great day!

I recently found this super cute dress at one of the local thrift stores and I couldn’t resist the watermelon-like color palate 😉 I am trying to get all my very summer clothes worn before fall is upon us. Although living in the south means fall could show up sometime in October.

Plus, my cat Lafayette or “Laffy”. He’s a sweet 17-lb chunk.

Hope y’all have a great Tuesday, dear readers.
