I have been watching these awesome Francoise Shoemint buckled booties but of course I just don’t have it in my budget to get another pair of shoes. While looking I also found a more affordable version.
check it out…
See the similarity? The Forever21 version is half the price of the Shoemint version but it’s also worth noting that 1. the F21 version is faux leather while the SM version is real leather, 2. you can take 20% off your first ShoeMint purchase with coupon code 20LUVUS, 3. Shoemint has sold out of quite a few sizes, 4. Forever21 doesn’t have a lot of size variety either.
Anyone that knows me knows that I have had a love for Hello Kitty since the mid 90s. Not surprisingly, the brand has become very popular recently (how can something as cute as Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters not be popular)?
The latest merchandise to emerge from the Sanrio brand has been:
A) a JustFab.com Hello Kitty shoe collection – WHAT?!
My favorite is DEFINITELY the peep toe pump with the gorgeous red hear print and adorable hello kitty charm.
B) Forever21 has launched yet another Hello Kitty/Chococat/Sanrio clothing and accessory line
UPDATE 10/15/12: After wearing these shoes a few more times, I have concluded that they are super painful and uncomfortable – so much so that I cannot wear them again EVER. I work in an office all day and I don’t even need to walk much but couldn’t stand these mary janes even at work… that is telling. I consigned them so maybe someone else can get wear out of them.
Remember yesterday when I blogged about these amazing Mary Jane platform heels from Forever21? Well they came in today! WHOO!
The verdict? HOTNESS!
Style: I am a huge fan of mary jane shoes and I’m loving the platform and the awesome chunky heel! I am an even bigger (well maybe not) fan of patent leather. SCORE! [These also kind of remind me of the Shoedazzle Ruthie, which I ordered and sent back because 1) they weren’t really the right size, 2) they were extremely damaged 3) I didn’t end up liking the style in person.] 5/5.
Fit: I ordered the 9 while I usually wear a 9 or 9.5. The 9 fits OK, it would have been nice to have a little more wiggle room but I’m hoping these babies stretch even just a little. I do have a wide foot and so there is a little bit of bunching on the sides, but that’s expected unfortunately. The ball on my foot is slightly uncomfortable but it’s not to bad. Definitely walkable! 3.5/5.
Color: I really love the burgundy color of these shoes. Perfection! 5/5.
Quality: Hard to tell at this point as I’ve only been sporting these mary janes around the office but I think for the price… can’t complain! The patent leather has a few small scuffs but nothing to write home about. 4/5.
Price: At under $25, I find the price to be fantastic! 5/5.
Overall: 4.5/5. Even though I haven’t worn these mary jane platforms much, I’d like to wager that these shoes will be a big hit! I just love them!
My wonderful cousin Deb is a young, busy mom of three little girls. She asked me to help her find a pair of comfortable, flat, affordable, cute shoes. She would normally wear her flip flops running around and playing with her kids. But even these simple, ubiquitous flip flops have waned in their popularity. I totally get it Deb, comfortable does NOT have to mean perfunctory or boring. It’s good to shake things up once in a while!
Even though I’m not a mom, I like to get down with comfy flats too. I am going to start with my favorites as recommendations for Deb.
1. Flat Thongs Sandals
When summertime comes around and I want something simple and a little sexy, I go for my gold thong flat sandals. They go with everything, are easy to wear, and are relatively comfortable as long as you’re not on your feet all day. And at $7.50, these cute sandals won’t break the bank.
Anyone that knows me knows that I love Crocs. The two main reasons that attract me to Crocs are comfort and durability during rainy days. My favorite pair are Crocs Malindi slingbacks; they are very cute, comfortable, and feminine. And they are currently on sale for $14.99-19.99, which is a steal.
I have the Malindi in navy and wear them when running around town, gardening, and even to work when it’s raining. If they get muddy, you can easily wash them off in the sink.
3. Mary Jane Athletic Flats
The third pair of go-to flats for me are a more athletic, rubber soled, Mary Jane style flats. I love that they have a hint of femininity yet are still considered athletic shoes.
My pick for Deb is this super cute Champion Mary Jane from Payless. You can wear these with capris, shorts, pants, and even skirts and dresses. The idea is versatility, femininity, and comfort.
These cute Mary Jane sneakers are on sale for $19.99, which is not a bad price. They come in 4 different colors too.
4. Peep Toe Flats
Lastly, I want to recommend a type of flat shoe what I myself don’t own but am currently looking for– the peep toe flat!
Perfect for summer, the cute and sexy peep toe flat shoe is versatile and feminine. This type of shoe can be worn with pants, shorts, capris, skirts, or dresses.
I love these Xhilaration Singne D’Orsay peep toe Flats in red patent. I love a pop of color to brighten up your outfit. These cute flats are currently on sale for $16.99, a price that doesn’t raise any eyebrows.
There you go, Deb! I hope I was helpful in finding you a cute pair of comfortable flats! Let me know what you think!
