I really wouldn’t call this a refashion. This is more of a jacket makeover! This project helped me do 2 things: 1. I really wanted denim vest and 2. I had a double breasted jean jacket that I wasn’t really wearing and didn’t really like all that much. The sleeves were too long and too tight.
So, I simply cut the sleeves off the jacket. I had some technical difficulties because I keep forgetting that sewing like 3 layers of thick denim is next to impossible unless you have industrial machinery. Alas, it didn’t turn out as perfect as I expected but who cares? You can’t really tell 🙂
I wore my brand new vest to work yesterday with a maxi dress. I think I like it better worn open:
What do you think? Was it worth cutting off the sleeves to make a vest?

it’s no secret to anyone that I love polka dots, whether they be the vintage kind or more modern like the ones on this dress. The dress was a lovely gift from a sweet and thoughtful family friend.
The weather yesterday took a turn to unexpectedly cool, which encouraged me to wear a nice spring/fall jacket. All in all, I felt pretty snazzy at work.
What about you – do you like polka dots?

When the summers in NC get scorching hot and humid, one of my favorite things to wear is a breezy summer dress + sandals. I usually pair it with a cardigan or jacket at work since they keep the office so cold.
Recently I picked up the Sam Edelman Gigi sandals because I desperately needed a pair of flat sandals other than my mel for forever21 plastic ones. A few days after I got them, my little kitty chewed them up but I was able to get them mostly fixed. I really like these sandals and hope to get lots of wear out of them – they are very comfortable.
What’s your favorite thing to wear during the hot & humid summertime?
