just a little grunge. {a slightly late thrift style thursday post}

So, I was wearing this grungy outfit the other day: plaid, jeans, vest, Docs. But I was having a really really bad day at work and when I got home, I didn’t feel like having my picture taken. So instead of my actual ‘grunge’ outfit, I am showing off just 1 grunge-y piece, my new olive green utility jacket.

I can’t get enough of this jacket, it seems to go with everything. Here are 2 ways I wore it in the past few weeks. It’s kind of grunge-y right? Paired with docs and something flannel screams grunge to me.

1. Phillip Lim skirt, on clearance at Target for $15
2. Vintage Coach cream crossbody bag $10

7. Leopard Velour blazer, $15
8. Donna Morgan dotted dress, $4.59

18. Mossimo tweed short sleeve jacket, $4.59
19. Franco Sarto Quasar bootie in brown leather, Ideeli credits ($0)

TOTAL =$104.86

I did get a lot of nice clothes, accessories, and even shoes and I managed to only buy 1 new item for the whole month and I ALMOST made it under my $100 budget. Let’s see if I can stay under $50 for December (since I will focus mostly on gifts for Christmas).

How about you, dear readers, if you’re a Budgeting Blogger {or if you’re not}, how did you do in November?

happy prints.

I finally have a piece from the Phillip Lim x Target collection!

I hadn’t planned on buying anything but went into Target looking for shampoo for hubby and left with this super cute skirt – and it was on clearance! I loved the color (mustard) and the fun print right away, when I put it on, I really loved the style too 😉

warm weather again!?

The weather here in NC is back to being its temperamental self so we go from chilly to warm and sunny in the mid 70s in the same week. So I took advantage of this and wore a few of my summery dresses that were neglected earlier this year.

I also wore a jacket with my dress so that when the weather warmed up in the afternoon, I could shed a layer easily! And here are my JustFab booties again, they’ve been getting so much wear lately!

IMG_1946 IMG_1944 IMG_1940 IMG_1939Hope everyone’s having a great day! Are you all ready for Halloween tomorrow?! Today was our work Halloween costume contest so I came in full garb (photos tomorrow for Thrift Style Thursday!).

can’t get enough…denim vests

Here I am once again wearing a denim vest. I think the reason why I’m so obsessed with vests after so many years of swearing them off as “too 90s” is that they’re practical! I have chubby arms and often like the layering effects of jackets or blazers but dislike how my arms feel like sausages busting out of casings.

Enter the vest (denim or really any material). Great for layering, offers some warmth, some casual stylin’, matches many different styles, and easy to obtain or produce.

What do you think of this trend? How would you wear (or not wear) a denim vest?
